Muhammad Akbar II
Muhammad Akbar II (22 April 1760 – 28 September 1837) was the penultimate Mughal Emperor, ruling from 1806 to 1837. He was the son of Shah Alam II and succeeded him as the nominal ruler of the declining Mughal Empire, which had been reduced to a symbolic authority under British dominance. Akbar II attempted to involve himself in diplomatic efforts, even sending a petition to King William IV of Britain through his envoy, Ram Mohan Roy, but these efforts had little practical effect.
- Akbar II died in 1837 and was succeeded by his son, Bahadur Shah II (Bahadur Shah Zafar), the last Mughal emperor.
- His death marked the further erosion of the Mughal dynasty, which ended in 1857 after the Indian Rebellion.
