Wajid Ali Shah

Wajid Ali Shah (1822–1887) was the last Nawab of Awadh (Oudh), ruling from 1847 until 1856, when his kingdom was annexed by the British East India Company under the pretext of misgovernance. Known for his patronage of the arts, music, and literature.
