Comment :
The claims of Holkar on Kunch dated from the invasion of Mulhar Rao Holkar, which was checked by Sa’adat Ali Khan, in 1736. Prior to this it appears to have formed a portion of the Datia state; probably held as a nominal fief from the court of Delhi. Datia was overrun by Sindhia in 1793 and 1797 and it was probably on the latter occasion that Ambaji Inglia took possession of Kunch. In 1805, at the end of the Second Maratha War, Jaswant Rao Holkar was stripped of a large portion of his territories and he renounced all claims to the district of Kunch in Bundelkhand. Subsequently Kunch was given as a jagir to Bhima Bai, Holkar’s daughter. The administration was left in the hands of the Collector of Bundelkhand and the revenue paid to Holkar.  very fine, very scarce.
