Comment :
Only 2 Round coins influenced by Mughals are known in entire Ahom coinage, This one is strucked after long Ahom-Mughal conflicts during Aurangzeb’s reign, very rare and historically important coin. Cooch behar and Assam was the major target of Aurangzeb during his reign to regain the mughal sovereignty because before him mughals was not able to conquer these provinces. Moreover Aurangzeb’s son Azam shah was appointed as governer of Bengal suba and was married to Ahom princes Ramani Gabharu (She was sent to the Mughal harem as part of the Treaty of Ghilajharighat, Assam) and was renamed Rahmat Banu Begum. It’s a rupee in Mughal style, obv have same couplet as Aurangzeb’s rupee. Reverse have same legends arrangement as mughal coins. Extremely rare.
